What makes this song fabulous? it’s high energy! it makes you wanna stomp your feet! it’s sassy and who doesn’t love sassy david archuleta? and let’s not even discuss the gorgeous of the ‘i cannot carry oooooon this waaaaay’ and the infectious chorus and bridge. and yes, david, you’ll always be our token nice guy.
David wrote this song with bryce avary of the rocket summer. of the concept, david pondered why anyone would want to stomp something as beautiful as roses, something another person holds so dear. why would you do that, he asked. why are you stomping my roses? poor roses.

Listen to the lyrics. I think he wrote this song about his dad. It’s bad business line, his dad used to be his mgr. But not just that line.
No, it’s about Jeff Fenster, his AR guy, who wanted him to do insipid, teen pop on his second album. You tell him, David. Oh, and actually, I think David actually managed to get him fired from Jive. hahaha!
