Justin Bieber was in and out of the CMT Music Awards after-party like some kind of mirage. There, then gone. Yet the one thing he absolutely made time for was time with The Band Perry. Back in January, they did The Tonight Show when he was the couch guest and they were the musical guest. But it was at the after-party on Wednesday night (June that they really got to chitchat. Bieber and the Perrys share the same vocal coach, “Mama” Jan Smith, so maybe they just wanted to compare notes on that. But could there be more to this run-in? Obviously, he likes a good country collaboration after winning the collaborative video award with Rascal Flatts for “That Should Be Me.” Maybe that’s why he made it his mission to get to Nashville’s swanky Hutton Hotel and officially say hi to Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry. Or perhaps he just wanted to congratulate them on their two wins. Or did he want to tell them how much he loved their performance of “You Lie”? I have no idea. Had he stayed at the after-party, I would’ve asked. But once he met The Band Perry, he left.
