Justin Bieber is on track to become the most followed person on Twitter. The teenager can now boast just over 16 million followers. There’s only one personstanding in his way when it comes to social media domination – the one and only Lady Gaga..
In the early morning hours of January 1, 2012, Bieber became the second human on earth to amass that figure, Lady Gaga having been the first. As of this writing two days later, Bieber is approaching 16,010,000 followers. Not bad for a kid who 3 years ago was a 14-year-old busking on the streets of Stratford, Ont..
Bieber got to 12 million followers in late August and has been gaining followers at an increasingly rapid pace since. On New Year’s Day he tweeted about reaching 16 million, it seems doing so because he got so many tweets from Bieliebers telling him what he’d achieved. He answered them with this: “2012 is going to be so good,” he began. “#16millionbeliebers, and I can already tell this year will be as good if not better than 2011.”
